\(.4+.6=1 \)... NO
(2) x^2 < y^2
Implies \(|x| < |y|\)
\(x=.4,\hspace{2mm} y =.6\) ... NO
\(x=.4,\hspace{2mm} y = -.6 \)... YES
(1)+(2)
It is not possible that \(y =-ve\) and \(|x| < |y|\) and \(x + y = 1\)
Hence \( y > 0 \)

From (1) x+y=1, it doesnot help with the value of Y
From 2 X^2<Y^2 again not much of help
Let's equate x=1-y from 1 in 2
(1-y)^2<y^2
= 1+y^2-2y<y^2 and on solving, we will get y>1/2 so the answer is C, as we know y is not less than 0, it is greater than 1/2
