Statement 1
(1) x > 0
x lies to the right of zero. However, we do not have any information on the position of z. The statement alone is not sufficient to conclusively determine the position of x and z.
Eliminate A and D.
Statement 2

z lies to the right of zero. However, we do not have any information on the position of x. The statement alone is not sufficient to conclusively determine the position of x and z.
Eliminate B.
Combined
The statements combined are not sufficient either. We can determine that both x and z lie to the right of zero. However, we cannot determine the relative position of x and z.
