On the number line, the distance from B to C is 10. Is A closer to B or to C?

(1) The distance from A to B is 7.

(2) |C| - |A| = 3

Pre-think: Assume that B is at origin of the number line, C might be 10, or -10.

(1) Only
If B=0, C=10, and A is 7, then A is closer to C
If B=0, C=10, and A is -7, then A is closer to B
Insufficient.

(2) Only
If B=0, C=10, and A is 7, then A is closer to C
If B=0, C=10, and A is -7, then A is closer to B
Insufficient.

(1)(2) Together
If B=0, C=10, and A is 7, then A is closer to C
If B=0, C=10, and A is -7, then A is closer to B
Insufficient.

The answer is thus  (E) .

I think the answer is C.

On a number line. if we plot for both the cases, we get A to B as 7 and C to A as 3. whereas C to B is given as 10.

A has to be between C & B in order to fulfill both the statements.
