Took the GMAT today and scored lower than expected.
Looking to re-take for a better score, so I'll have a shot at one of the top 10 schools. Does anyone know how the tops schools look at multiple test scores? (i.e. average the scores, give more weight to the best score, etc.?)

Thanks in advance for any replies... :roll:

Agree with Praet, people here are in the best position to answer accurately to this kind of questions.

I do not all the top 10 adcoms point of views, but few of them. They never hide the fact that more than 50% of their students had the test at least twice...

Hi,

Many of the elite and ultraelite schools expressly state that they use the highest score in evaluating candidates. As one of many examples, see VA below.

U of Virginia

"If you take the GMAT multiple times, Darden will look at your highest score."

However, more than three sittings starts to look a bit odd.

I know that Stanford considers your most recent score (or whichever one you want them to consider). I personally think that re-taking the GMAT to improve your scores is a sign of commitment on your part. I'm sure the Adcom for the most part understand that it's difficult to study with a full-time work schedule, so I would just go ahead and take the test again, if I were you. Chin up, you'll do fabulously the next time round. :)
