Should I retake GMAT? Score - 690 Q48 V35

Question

I just took my GMAT recently and scored a 690 (~90th percentile) with Q48 (80th percentile) and V35 (75th percentile). I have an undergrad degree in Math from one of the top 100 universities in the world (public, not private) and a GPA of 3.5. I could have scored higher on quant. I have scored 50 in quant in my practice exams. Just wondering if I should retake GMAT to break the 700 barrier. My target is the top 10 business schools in the U.S. I'll appreciate any insights you may have. Thanks.

690 is good enough. Don't waste your time. A quick glance at the interview stats for HBS/Wharton and Stanford in the coming weeks will show you that after a certain threshold (around 680) your work background, which is already predetermined, determines your applicability. 690 is fine, in my opinion.

I would completely agree with ebonn101 here.

But I would also suggest you that if you feel that this score is not a true reflection of your capabilities, then go ahead and give it one more shot. Since you are a math student you can take your score to 49-50 easily.

Also there is a room of improvement in your Verbal also. So it's your call, either work on your apps. or work hard once again on your GMAT to cross that 700 barrier

A lot depends on your demographic profile, work ex, and extra curricular activities ?

It depends on what schools you are looking at. If you are applying to H/S/W and/or other top schools, then yeah, your work background will be one of the biggest determining factors in whether you are admitted.

While 690 is good enough to be considered by the top schools, if you can improve your verbal score substantially, you could theoretically be a top scorer (760+). It won't be easy to achieve as it looks like you have a way to go on verbal, but assuming you have time, I'd say go for it. I do concur with the other responses about the rest of your app mattering, but the GMAT can be an easy place to improve your app.

My scenario is also very similar.. 690 with Q50 and V34.. mgmt consulting + good academics background.. am only aiming for top 7 US universities. While I was constantly scoring more than 720 in mocks, screwed it somehow in VA

.. Don't know if I should reattempt it or concentrate on apps. Is there any minimum score (for ticking purposes) that the universities use? What is that score? Some say, it is 680.. is it true? Please guide.
