Hi guys,
I recently took my GMAT and was very disappointed to score 690 with Q50 and V34. While I was constantly scoring more than 720 in mocks, screwed it somehow in VA in the final GMAT. I have a background of mgmt consulting job + good academics. I am only aiming for the Top 7 US universities. What is my chances of getting a call from any of these universities. Is a low score going to be a problem? Don't know if I should reattempt it or concentrate on applications. Is there any minimum score (for ticking purposes) that the universities use for shortlisting candidates? What is that score? Some say, it is 680.. is it true? Please guide.

How much time did you devote to verbal? Are you a native speaker? I'm sure you could push that verbal up a few points, which would take you into 700+ territory.
Your background looks fine, but you will be up against plenty of other management consultants with solid GPAs, who also have higher GMAT scores.
I would revist verbal weaknesses and push hard for a 700+ score.

P.S. If you feel you can further your application you can, but I doubt it.
Nobody will shortlist anything above 650 - look at the 80th percentile distributions. Even Stanford has 680 in there....
