Congrats! I have seen similar resistance and many angry posters who don't support the idea of retaking when you are somewhere in 720 - 740 range.
In the end, we must all do what we feel like doing. Life is not fair to all of us and any edge that we can gain by a few extra points is worth gaining.
Score is just one aspect of the admissions. I believe that essays are much more important. I am learning the lesson hard way. I hope that you will write stellar essays and get where you want to go.
