I just took my second GMAT and I saw a 30 point increase. My first score was a 540 (Q30, V34, IR2, AWA 6) and my second score was a 570 (Q35, V33, IR 4). I've been out of school for awhile (10+ years of work experience). I have a B.S. in Biololgy with work experience in Chemistry, so the background in quant is there. However, my math skills are very rusty as evidenced by the score. I also have a J.D. from DePaul. If I want to be considered at Chicago Booth or Kellogg for the PT MBA program, should I consider retaking the GMAT for a 3rd time? I used Manhatten Prep's book set to prep the second time and Kaplan/OG the 1st time. Thanks!
Hi cmwaid10, I would recommend you to go through the average class profile of the schools you are targeting. If your score is towards the upper side of the 80% class range, you may skip retaking the GMAT and strengthen other aspects of the application.
Both Booth and Kellogg are highly competitive Schools; as such, unless you have a really strong OVERALL profile, your 570 is probably not going to be considered a high enough GMAT score to help you get into either of those Schools.
1) How long did you study before each of your attempts at the GMAT? 2) What resources did you use? 3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
