hi everyone

I gave my first GMAT on 25/11/2017. I didnt prepare even for a single day because this was just to take a trial.
so finally after submit i got a very devastated score in verbal

Quant-49
Verbal-17
Overall- 560

So can you guys help me to fetch a score of 700+ and what are the things i need to focus and prepare on. Thanks

Hi sharbh,

To start, I'd like to clarify what you wrote - did you recently take a practice CAT or the Official GMAT?

You're clearly a strong Quant thinker, but before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on your goals:

1) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
3) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

1) I am planning to apply this year itself in Ireland or Singapore
2) Planning to apply UCD Ireland and NUS or NTU singapore
3) Everyday i can spend 5-6 hours for study at night.

Hi sharbh,

To start, a 560 is a decent 'baseline' score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 540-550 most years). That having been said, raising a 560 to a 700+ will likely take at least another 2-3 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle every aspect of the Verbal section.

Based on the information that you've provided so far, I have a few follow-up questions:

1) Did you recently take a practice CAT or the Official GMAT?
2) What are the exact application deadlines for the Schools that you plan to apply to?
