Hello everybody,

I just finished my GMAT test and I am quite disappointed because my Verbal skill has been a disaster. It is obvious that Im not a native speaker, but my Kaplan Tests were much better than a 3%ile. I have applied to Georgetown, UC Davis and Trinity College in Dublin, but I cannot be admitted with this score; in spite of my essays, my work experience and my degree.

What could you suggest me to improve the verbal skill?

I would suggest the OG11 book for RC and CR, and Manhattan GMAT SC for Sentence correction. just practice practice practice over and over.

How did you prepare for the exam? and what else did you use besides Kaplan CAT? what were your scores on those CATs?

Just keep practicing. dont worry. you are not alone in this journey.
i am also a foreign speaker (cant you say with all the mistakes here :lol: )
but the more you practice the better you will get.
what is the average/min score that you need, anyway?

Well,

The scores of Kaplan CAT were around always 600, from 650 to 590. although never 450; only the diagnostic test was 440 one and a half month ago. Anyway, I have to continue studying and perhaps, applying for 2009 instead of 2008.

Do you suggest me buy the books by amazon? because im living in london and i could go to some bookshop here.

I'm not a native speaker either. So we are all in the same boat. Practise a lot and I am sure you will get there. I haven't made my inscription for any but in London there are several preparation courses that should help you to improve also in the verbal part.

Will take my GMAT around April, so after all I my consider one of these if my score is not the one I need.

Only by practicing you can get to the level you want. Master all questions in OG 11 and use MGMAT SC book to boost your SC abilities.
