Let's say for 2nd go at GMAT I decide not to send my score report to any schools and I do worse, but my score report went out first time. Will they be able to see my 2nd attempt?

No. But you have to indicate you don't want GMAC to release any information to schools.

but they will be able to tell how many attempts and what your score was on each attempt (within 5 yrs) when u actually apply to the school...

why would they be able to tell that? What would be the point of sending scores if they could tell that ?

What's your strategy for sending to scores to schools? I'm planning to apply to 8 or so between the 1st and 2nd round applications, so I will need to send my scores to 3 extra schools. Do you send your score to the 5 lowest ranked schools and then if you don't need to retake the test, then pay to send your scores to your top three schools? Or just say screw it and send your score to your top 5?

Well, I made the mistake to indicate my top 5 to receive my score when I took the GMAT. And now that I am not very happy with the score and thinking of retaking, the strategy has changed. Don't send to my top 5 again until I see the score from the re-take. Of course, that means more money spent on additional score reports, but what can you do, the risk is pretty big.....
Anyway, the bottom line is the schools won't get your additional scores unless you officially send scores to them again. If you do that though, all scores in the last 5 years will be revealed.

I believe schools have access to scores you send them. I also think schools also ask for GMAT score(s) on application form. I'm not sure if you have to mention all your scores or only the best one

I always thought that schools that you apply to had access to all of your GMAT scores if they actually want to take a look and check to see what your other GMAT scores are(if there are multiple takes)?

Or do they only have access to the scores that you report to the school. Meaning, you can take the GMAT 10 times and if you report only 3 scores, the school will only think you took the GMAT 3 times...

It should show all the scores you got before last report. The score sent to schools also gives the number of times you have given GMAT until then. If you reported your test 7 score, school will know about your first 7 scores but not the 8,9 and 10 scores.
