I am utterly disappointed with my verbal score in GMATPREP... I got a 45 in my quant which is my highest so far ever... So I was very happy about it ... But the sheer excitement of the quant score was overshadowed by the poor verbal scores!!!! I am planning on giving the actual exam in 2 weeks. And this score is not helping me out at all!!!!! I need slightly a score of over 630 - 640 in the actual exam.
Any suggestions for the next two weeks on how to attack verbal section? ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM YOU CLUBBERS WILL BE HELPFUL.
What are you using for SC ? Manhattan GMAT prep is excellent, Spidey's Notes or Manhattan Review. You can use any one of them . CR is just about understanding the conclusion.
I'd hit up the OG big time. Manhattan sc guide is also good. Read the question first on CR... that will usually help a lot. Verbal just needs a lot of practice. You may want to consider delaying the test.
I do not mind delaying the test, but I have a deadline of June 6th for one of the schools I plan on applying.... So I need atleast 3 weeks to prepare and apply... I am currently working on the OG and yes I do have Manhattan SC book... I think it is the lack of application.. When I am doing the OG11, my success rate is as high as 85% but during the exam the results do not validate that success rate....
Thanks for your help.. I will continue to hit those two books....
Maple.. I was checking to see how many questions I did wrong in verbal in GMATPREP....
Question 1, 7, 8, 9 were wrong (1 RC and 3 CR) 16, 18, 22, 24, 26, 29, 37, 38, 40, 41 (the last 4 questions I did not have adequate time) 1min to answer 4 questions.
Overall I did very well in SC however, CR & RC were the major hiccup areas.
I will try to focus on the CR and RC portions of it....
Don't be discouraged! Just keep working with the OG and take one GMATPrep test every other day from now till your exam day. That is the best strategy unless you are able to reschedule. Then you can actually spend time learning concepts the slow way from books like Manhattan SC.
And, oh yeah, cheer up Axl. It looks like we all be drinking a free Dr Pepper by the end of the year - think about that as motivation!
axl perhaps you are finding adjusting from book to screen a little difficult. I had the same problem. Consider training for verbal on gmatter software (https://www.gmatter.biz). Good luck - we need more 700s from Australia
I downloaded the software from the website but unable to install it... It downloaded as a file type "0"???!!!!!!!!! So XP (on my PC) is not able to recognize the format...
