First 5-10 questions strategy

Is it B.S. to focus more time in the beginning questions?
I need a minimum of 550-600.

I heard that it's wise to focus your efforts on the first 5-10 questions (don't use POE, be sure!) because after that it's just "fine-tuning" your score.

GMAT Algorithm is protected and nobody knows the exact details. Kaplan argues that the first 10 questions are not as critical and supposedly they have proven that. one more note, on top of what bb said, treat each question with equal important, whether it is #1, #8, or #34. Sure, the first 10 may or may not be more important, but you should tackle each question with accuracy, precision, focus, and energy.

It's true that one should approach the GMAT giving importance to all questions. Getting only the first 10 questions right isn't really going to do you favors. However, I found out when I was doing GMAT prep, I scored higher when I did not make any mistakes in the first 10 questions. Same number of mistakes, but different percentile score. But just take this with a grain of salt.

If the GMATPrep software is any indication of the real test, I have found that if you screw up a lot in the first 10 questions your score suffers a lot more than screwing up the final 7-10

manhattan GMAT says it's all a myth and I've been getting some pretty good help from their book series, so I'm roll with it

From all that I've read, the "first 5-10 question" myth is partly true and partly untrue. The effect it has on your score depends on the the general score you end up with. Let me see if I can try to find the article I read that cleared this up...

It depends on whether experimental questions are asked in first 15 questions,
If yes, then all questions are equally important.
If no, then first 15 questions are important.

Yes exactly, it does impact the overall score but when your questions other than 1st 10 are decent enough. A lot of experimentation is going on with mocks.
