while browsing accepted.com i read that to get
through in any of the top (ultra elite and elite)
MBA schools, our goals of life (long and short) have
to be inlined with goals of the school.
Could you pls help me understand -
1. what are the goals of each school? I know it can
be read from the vision statement, but to me they
appear to be same somehow...
2. what are the pros and cons of each school? Which
school is good for which domain and why? i would
appreciate if you couls sare data to support it.

I would view this somewhat like the idea of finding the right "fit" with an employer or a personal relationship. The school wants to make sure that your personality would fit in with the students that the school typically attracts. Thus, a person who prizes his ability to derive all of the answers on his own might not be what some schools are seeking. The idea of fit is important but it is often over emphasized. After all, virtually all schools seek the same basic attributes (able to communicate, able to complete quantitative coursework, possess some unique qualities) and then more idiosyncratic attributes.

Idea was to minimize variables in the process of
admission. Lets assume I want to major in finance
with specialization in M&A. When i apply to ultra
elite schools (harvard, stanford, kelloggs, columbia
etc), I might get rejected from school in case they
do not specialize in that domain...
So i was just wondering which school specializes
into which domain? for e.g. there is a feeling that
Kelloggs is good at marketing (why, because of
Philip Kotler), Harvard is good at general
management etc... If you have information on these
lines and can share then it would be great.
