I concur with the previous posters- it sounds like you shouldn't write the exam in the next two weeks. Try to study while you're travelling, even if it's just to maintain your current knowledge, and not move forward too much, then when you get back in November try and use that famous second trimester energy boost to tackle the GMAT again!

I think you will definitely want to get it done before delivering, as it will become nearly impossible to find time to shower, much less quiet studying.

Best of luck with both your pregnancy and the GMAT!

Hi York101,
Congrats! I am a mum of a toddler; had taken break from work to take care of my daughter and prepare for GMAT. My sincere advice is to take GMAt before baby arrive; life is not under our control after baby arrives, it is under baby's control :) All the best for GMAT and motherhood!

Yes. Give your GMAT before baby arrives. You don't know what is in store. It will be too much pressure to study for GMAT with a small baby. You need time to enjoy your motherhood.

Do a GMATPrep CAT and if your score is well below what you are shooting for then I would hold off on taking the GMAT before your trip. I would strongly encourage you to get the GMAT out of the way before the baby arrives though. I kept putting off studying and really wished I would have taken it earlier so I would have more time focusing on applications and essays.

Let me take this opportunity to first congratulate you !
IMO - Your husband is absolutely correct. You should get rid of the GMAT before your baby arrives, cause anything later than that will hamper your GMAT performance.

Hi York101,

Second that. I am mom to a toddler too.

While I was in the last trimester of my pregnancy, I prepared for and got my PMP certification (and did really well). Honestly, since I was pregnant I didnt have high hopes on scoring well. But I just felt better spending time studying PMP than sitting idle all day.

Like libra269 said, after the baby arrives, even if you are highly motivated to study it gets difficult to stick to a study schedule.

From my personal experience - I gave my GRE exam while full-time mothering my infant son and it was a little crazy. Infact I often studied late nights after putting him to sleep and it was pretty hard. So, I would highly recommend that you study hard for next 1-2 months and finish off the GMAT before the baby.

All the best !!

Thank you all, you guys are so kind and encouraging,
@ resh and libra269 I am you so glad you have given me some insights to motherhood and managing studies, I was under the impression newborns eat/poop/sleep most of the time...guess that wont be happening,
@ dokiyoki: well all married women will say "we hate it when hubby's are right" but occasionally they are right! :)
I have arrived at a decision, I will write my Gmat after my trip and before the baby.
I would like to thank you all once again, and wishing you all the very best in future.

Cheers,

Hi York, congrats! I agree with all others in the forum. Life will be totally different after baby arrives. We have 2 months old and my wife hardly gets any sleep. Her sacrifice, helped me to prepare for the exam but it was not easy. Even for your husband, it is a big life-style change. It is better to be done with GMAT now
