Hello everybody 
, this is my first post.
I have been practicing regularly, althoguh not very hard, for the past two months. I am basically using PR, and kaplan books. Oh yeah, and also attending a GMAT tutor 3 times a week for the verbal part only.
I am leaving the OG untouched till I try the powerprep.
Anyway, my biggest concer is with the RC part. I've tried about 10 passages so far (maybe more) and I it not only takes me too much time to read the passage and answer the questions but also I get like 1/3 of the questions wrong (mostly inferences).
I am aiming at a 700+ (who isn't), so lots of improvement to be done here...
How on earth can I improve the RC skills ? I am kind of lost..
Looking forward to sharing some thoughts in the future

Uruguai has been popular here in the last few days - there is another new member from there. Interesting; I don't meet people from Uruguay every day... anyway, I will stop here.
RC was the most difficult for me.
I have said it a few times, but I think repeating again won't hurt anybody.
I followed Kaplan's strategy for reading - stopping after each paragraph, summarizing and trying to jot down a few things. Also stopping at the end to tie everything together seemed extremely helpful. I read the whole passage - no skipping. I paid close attention to the first sentences and the last ones too. Trying to catch some key words, but that was usually too much and overloaded my brain that did not know where to escape.
One amazing thing, which usually does not happen on the GMAT was that I improved my reading in 20 minutes or even 5. I had 40-60% success range and after 5 minutes it was 75+. I just did as Kaplan said - read, stop, summarize, think a litttle and read again, etc, etc, etc.
I did this without a time limit obviously the first few times, but I was not reading like a schoolboy either
i was reading my normal pace but without a time concern. I thought I needed to learn how to handle the text first and then worry about time. I also hopped to get more than 60% at least once and I did.
This is what I did and I encourage you to try and see what happens.
I also found Fiction to be very helpful for the GMAT, since I am not a native speaker.....
Does the tutor know what he is doing? I am not picking I am just wondering. SOmetimes people hire non-gmat tutors and that's not advised.

He's ok, has been preparing students for the GMAT for several years...
He basically said that he could give me a few tips (like you did thank you very much) but that rc is something that one should improve on his own.
I'll keep trying..

It is the first time I have heard of it, but I would appreciate hearing from somebody who tried it.
That's some fallacy.... only 7 days for practice, esp since many people are professionals and are not housewives (don't sit at home and practice all 7 days).
