I just gave my GMAT past Sunday and wanted to share my experience of GMAT. This was my first attempt and was able to reach the coveted score of 700 (Q49, V35) with just 2 months of studies. Although was a bit disappointed by my Verbal score of 35 (Was expecting around 39-40) but then decided against retake. Would be instead devoting time to writing up my essays.
Update - Got the AWA score of 5 today.

How I Did It -
Quants -
Basically as I was involved in a full time job, didn't used to get much time for preparation. But I made sure that everyday, i would take out at least 2 hrs minimum for studies. Quants was never a problem for me as I enjoy solving puzzles a lot So I hardly devoted any time for Quants, except for P&C, probablity and statistical part. Apart from that i just did the DS questions from the OG. Basically Tests were the only source of my practice for Quants.
My 2 cents for Quants - Make sure you are good in Number theory/P&C/Probablity/Statistics. Get your concepts clear in number theory as most of the DS and PS questions in the real thing are based on that. I consistently hovered between 48-50 in quants during my practice tests. In my opinion these are the sections that would make a difference between a 46 and a 50.
Verbal -
This was the section that gave me the headache during my entire preparation time. My score in this section hovered from 23-39. My only strength in this section was CR.Though i am an avid reader I was still facing difficulty in RC - primarily in inference and scope questions. I practiced a lot of RC questions, did OG, RC 99, 800 Score to get a hold of this part and at the end I did gain confidence . I was never good in SC and in the end also i guess this part was my nemesis. For SC I did OG/Aristotle/Kaplan.
Cant guide much on the verbal part , but i can surely say this much that for Verbal don't just stick to doing questions. Even if you get the questions right, read the explanation provided in OG.
Will soon provide more information...!!
