I used e-gmat. I know it doesn't really reflect on my score, but they really helped me. If I didn't mess up my timing on the exam I would have been at 40 in verbal.

Hi Rajiv,

I have a query since I am also sailing in the same boat - got 680( Q 49, V 33) and I have 7 years experience - was thinking if I should retake GMAT since I feel I can do better in verbal.

If you feel that you have messed up in timing during GMAT , why don't you give it another shot ?

My decision to not go for Attempt #3 is due to a combination of reasons. Firstly I have some applications due in September/October which requires me to get going right away. Secondly, I felt the timing pinch during both attempts and there is a chance I might improve but I am not sure about it. I feel a 720 vs. a 690 is not going to be the deciding factor at the end. I might be naive to think in this manner and would know best in December/January when I receive rejects/admits. Thirdly, I am starting to get pretty busy at work and I avoided a lot of work from Feb to June this year. I don't want this to start affecting my letter of recommendations. So after carefully reviewing these reason I have concluded that I will have to live with 690 and concentrate on the remaining aspect of my application.

Hi Rajiv,

I sincerely hope that your score of 690 takes you to your desired program.

I find myself ending in a similar score and hence my writing to you.

I am a retaker(last score being 630, V29,Q47. I have self prepared from MGMAT, Gmatclub and OG this time to improve my verbal to 33/34. Sensing to scale further, I had taken up eGmat couple of months earlier. Though the course along with its instructors is fantastic, I think, I might land up around 689/690(actually have taken a MGMAT CAT yesterday and scored 660). I have my GMAT date in about 20 days from now.

Alongwith brushing upon concepts taught at eGmat and striving to apply the wonderful processes for SC, CR & RC, I feel I need to have a timing strategy in place(make some guesses based upon your takt time after having devoted extra time for the first 10/15 questions etc).

It is on the above that I need your suggestion. Did you try to adopt such a strategy whereby you fumbled on the time or was it that you did not apply any strategy at all and treated every question on its merit?

I am sorry if my post is a bit too lengthy as I am slightly confused on the actionable left to maximize my score.

Regards

Argha
