Hello,
This is regards a concern for which I like to have some advices. I am an aspirant of PhD in Marketing with 12 years of industry work experience.
I took the GMAT last year and scored a meagre 630(V29,Q47). My preparation last year was through Kaplan Premier, OG12 and GMATClub.
My concern was always Verbal. Whilst preparing this year, have completed MGMAT SC and CR so far in about 15 days. I know that maybe its not possible to grasp all contents of MGMAT in such a short time but was still confident of retaining some.
However, the first GMATPrep Test I took a couple of days back, gave me a shattering score of 610.
This has somewhat dented my confidence. Though I am thoroughly confident of my ability to score in excess of 700, however, what are the concrete steps to be taken to do so??? Is it practice, practice and practice stuff like sc1000 or am I missing something?
P:S-On analysing the mistakes made in the first GMATPrep, I found a number of them to be casual mistakes which I could rectify during revision only.
I would appreciate advices from knowledgeable people in the forum. Also would love to connect with similar aspirants in this forum.

Hi Argha,
FYI "This is regards a concern"
should be
"This is in regards to a concern"
--in case you write this in your future business emails or you see something similar on the exam.
Simply doing 1,000 questions won't get you a top score. You'll generally get stuck around the 640/650 zone.
Speed is important so knowing how to simplify a sentence (cut the fluff) - how to identify keywords and commas..etc..these are all useful techniques you can use during the test so you can arrive at the final answer faster.
As you know, time is crucial to better handle the more time-intensive CR and RC section.
You need some guidance combined with repetitious learning as you review your mistakes religiously. But as mentioned before, pure practice without changing how you think will only lead you to the same results.

"This in regards to a concern..." Is not correct either. It's either "This regards a concern..." or "This is in regards to a concern..." or "This is with regard to a concern..."
