There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I have given two attempts for GMAT,My highest scored turned out to be 620(V27,Q48),I still want to give one more attempt and cross 700 barrier,i am clueless about what to do now so as to increase my score,The domain which i think troubles me is verbal,i have practiced a lot of verbal but still i can't figure out ways of improving it.I hope someone can throw some light on how to improve verbal section.
I had similar problems with verbal - just took a 6 week course (private one-on-one for way less than Kaplan/PR/etc...was only $65/hr) - and my score went up drastically. My tutor Sean from Tutor the People scored in the 99th percentile and was extremely attentive to the areas that I needed to improve on in order to achieve a high score. Plus they donate 5% of the cost to Children of Promise - a non-profit that mentors and provides tutors to underprivileged children - which is pretty cool!
