Hi achilies,

Since the original post is almost 2 years old (and the poster hasn't been on the site in almost a year), it's possible that you won't be hearing back from him/her.

How are YOUR studies going?
Have you taken the GMAT yet? If so, then how have you scored?

oops did not realize this post was so old. Just saw it on the bottom and decided to help.

My studied are going okay. Slow,

Trying to get a score of 720 .. usually hitting the 650 range.

Making dumb errors, missing some CR questions

Good on the math until the 700 level questions, then bat around 30% with the top hardest questions.

Sentence correction is also hit or miss for me, get hung up on the harder problems, idioms usually get me and sometimes miss careless errors.

Hi achilies,

If you can answer a few more questions, then I should be able to help you improve:

1) How long have you been studying?
2) What resources have you been using?
3) How have you scored on each of your practice CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Hi achilies,

To raise your scores to the 720+ level, you're going to have to make some improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. From what you've described, it looks like you've taken a 'book-heavy' study approach so far. Many Test Takers end up getting 'stuck' at a particular scoring level when studying in this way, so it's possible that the same thing has happened to you.

1) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Hi achilies,

Have you actually scheduled your GMAT yet or are you looking to take it some time in October? I ask because I think that you're going to need a bit more than a month to get in the necessary practice and hit your score goals. If you only have a month, then I can still offer some advice, but the shorter time-frame will probably hurt your chances.

Hi achilies,

Since you're dealing with a limited timeframe, I have a few specific questions about your last few CATs:

When you took your last 3 CATs:
1) What were your exact scores on each (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?
2) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
3) Did you take them at home?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once?

I just took my first GMAT and received 650 (Q50V27)...
I've scheduled 2nd GMAT for the first week of November and I need to completely re-strategize the verbal part of the exam. Any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated...

I'm completely lost, I've always thought that I was decent in all parts of the Verbal : SC,CR,RC. It seems like I need to start from the ground zero and attack the basics again. Does anybody have a great a month study guide to follow?

I'm desperate at this time, any advice would be helpful.
I'm a hard worker, will follow any guide-lines.

Thank you for reading...

Hey josephcho

Here is a customized one month study plan that can help boost your score: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... study-plan

Use this as a guideline. You don’t have to follow it exactly but the structure of the study plan should be the same structure that you take in your approach. This helps to optimize your retention and learning.

As you study, we recommend that you focus on one particular subsection for multiple consecutive days before moving onto the next. You can see this in our study plan where we recommend 5 days on nothing but SC -- before moving onto CR and then RC.

Here is a sample SC video to help you start your journey: https://www.gmatpill.com/sentencecorrect ... ythons.mp4

Best of luck- we are here to help.
