Hi..
Today I gave my GMAT exam and was shocked to see the results. 640 (Q - 47, V - 30, IR - 5). I had previously given GMAT thrice and the scores were 620 - 680 - 710 respectively. All these 3 tests were given before the changes in GMAT format were introduced.I took the third attempt in July 2011.Due to personal reasons I didn't apply to B-schools though I got 710. Last time(3rd attempt) when I took the GMAT,I was expecting atleast 730 because I had clocked 740 in the 2 GMAT preps that I gave before the real test.
There are 2 reasons why I wrote the GMAT again now.
1. This year I am applying to top B-schools in US (ranking 5- 15). My GMAT score was on par with the average of these B-schools .Since I come from India and have a career spanned in IT consulting, I thought getting a higher score than 710 would help me.
2. Since I got 730 in the GMAT prep last time, I assumed that, with more preparation I can easily touch 730 - 740.
So I started preparing again from Aug .
Last week I gave GMATprep twice and scored 730 each time. So I was confident and scheduled my GMAT . But today I am shell shocked to see my results. I have no clue as to why my score has gone down so badly. I am very confused and going crazy. I just have few more weeks(6- 8 weeks) to apply to the schools. But I am not sure whether I need to write the GMAT again(would be my 5th attempt) or just use my 710(3rd attempt) score. Will the B-schools hold this multiple attempts against me? Pls advice .
