Hey,
I want to start off by saying I've been reading a lot of things on this forum, but this is my first time posting.
I am senior at the UW in Seattle, studying marketing. I'm taking the GMAT as I want to get an MSc in Marketing at Bocconi, SSE, Rotterdam etc.
I've studied for around 2 months, on and off, as I am also in school and had to balance the GMAT with 4 classes. Around 80 hours total. I've done all of the OG 13 and Kaplan 800
I took the GMAT 2 days ago and ended up with a disappointing 640, 39q38v (goal is 680-700)
GMAT PREP were 700 and 710.
Other CATs were 680 and above (
MGMAT was 680 I believe)
My verbal score was most shocking, as I would normally score at least a 42-43 on the tests I took (Even though I'm not a native speaker, I've been living in the States for about 6 years). I would usually finish around 10 minutes earlier on the verbal part and miss a couple of questions just because of lack of attention. On the test, though, I barely finished, and even had to guess a few questions.
However, as I look back, I never did the entire 4 hours on the CATs I took, as I only did the Verbal and Quant sections (Don't have problems with IR or AWA). I think this came back to haunt me as I was very fatigued mentally when I started on the verbal and had a really tough time concentrating.
Anyways, since I am missing the January deadline for Bocconi, I am planning to retake it sometime in the early part of January and go for the February deadline.
This is what I plan on doing:
-first of all, just take 2 weeks completely off to focus on my finals/end of the quarter
- for the verbal part: I downloaded "the most comprehensive collections" pdfs (360 questions: rc, sc, cr); I'll go over them just to keep my mind in the game. Also, I'm planning to take 4-5 CATs at least, and for the entire 4 hours, to get my brain used to staying concentrated for longer. Any idea on where could I get some more difficult Verbal verbal questions, just to practice?
- the quant side is where I would need advice. I've never been great at math, but usually scored around 40 on the CATs. Even an improvement to 42 would be great. I would like to concentrate more on topics and concepts I make the most mistakes on. I am thinking about the Kaplan Math Workbook. What do you guys think? Any other alternatives?
Thanks a lot for your help!
