Not everybody needs a high score to get into the school that they want.
I scored 560 (Q33 V34)
Here are my study tips for people who just need to score between 550 and 600:
1. Study only the Verbal sections from OG 13.
I spent a lot of time studying the Quant section in OG 13, and I did not get much out of it. I realized that studying in a book for Quant and then taking practice tests on the computer did not help me get higher scores. On the other hand, this was not the case for Verbal. Everything I learned studying in OG 13's book translated to a higher Verbal score on practice tests on the computer.
2. For the Quant sections, only study on the computer.
As stated above, practicing Quant using a book for some reason just does not help when you have to do these problems on a computer.
3. This might sound lame but when taking the GMAT, use your finger to read the questions. The GMAT is 210 minutes long. You can slow down and not even realize it, so read with your finger on the computer screen to make sure you are keeping pace.
4. Take every break offered during the GMAT.
Last thing:
On page 7 in OG 13, it states that over 200,000 people take the GMAT every year. If you score a 550, that means you did better than 100,000 people.
