Raoz,

Awesome score and thanks for sharing the info.

Kwasi/anandobhattacharya,

My friends, I'll include you guys in my prayers for a successful, trouble-free GMAT experience. You guys do the same for me.

I strongly believe that with preparation, all you need is a little luck to go your way to reach your goals, be it a 700 or an 800.

Could you talk a little bit more about the GMAT Verbal Section please? What type of questions did you see in the first time? What kind of SC's did you see, etc, etc. How were you doing from a timing perspective? How much time did you have for the last 10 questions, etc.

regards,

Thanks guys!

My best wishes to all you guys... it's true that luck will eventually be a HUGE factor.. like it or not.. whether you get a good night's sleep, or whether you are generally at ease on the day are things beyond your control.

What you can do though is try to minimise all such variations... for instance... I always did my practice tests in a library.. to get used to general noise around...and i also timed my tests so that i started them at 8:00 in the morning..(my test time was 8:30 )... this way my brain was trained to switch on during that time...

Also don't underestimate the benefits of writing good essays... that can really switch you on and get you pepped up to face the rest of the test.
my argument was awesome... my issue was quite sad.. but all in all it did get me pepped up for the quant.

Also keep some stuff to eat/drink in your locker...whether you actually have some depends on the day.. but keep the option.. i took an apple, a coke, water, a muffin, a mars bar... ended up having a bit of coke and some water... never had the time to grab a bite..those 5 minute breaks seem like 10 seconds long on the day.

As for the verbal... i started off with 5-6 SCs... the SCs were sort of similiar to OG/Kaplan etc... nothing struck me as unusual there... then i got a tricky CR I think.. don't remember the rest... ended up getting a boldfaced CR (tough one) in the end somewhere... on the test day, somehow whenever I saw a straight forward question, I'd take the extra few seconds to re check my answer to ensure I didn't make a silly mistake... that ended up costing me too much time... I was actually a good 5 minutes off my target as I was approaching the last 20 questions... it was RC that saved me... as i mentioned earlier, I ended up answering the questions after just one quick read... (I usually work best under pressure)

But all in all the verbal was similiar to stuff I'd seen before.. Don't ask me about scoring and stuff though.. I've never been able to understand that stuff... for instance a Q50/V41 doesn't really look like a 760.. but that's what it said so i believe it..

Anyway, longish post again... I hope you guys can get things going your way... and peak at the right time! And do remember.. Chance favours the prepared mind!

Good Luck everyone

You got 760, and it is 760, so you shouldn't have any second thoughts whether it is really 760. On the day of your test Q50V41 was 760! It is all that matters.

Q and V scaled scores don't change, the cumulative scale doesn't change but their percentile standings change every single day, as more and more test takers take the test and get their official scores.

In fact, taking GMAT by the end of the year, given the fact that you are really prepared can boost your cumulative score and percentiles because expected increase in the number of not fully prepared test takers will likely lower the averages.
