Hi All,
I have appeared for GMAT twice and have badly screwed the same both the times. Infact, I had the exam today and the score was so low according to my expectations that I cannot apply to any institute with the same.
Here is brief on my journey so far:-
1st attempt: 540 (Q 44, V 21): May 2014
After the first shock, I made it a point that i will go through the official guides, manhattan books and give as many mocks as possible. Below is the list of study materials referred by me:-
1. OG 13- Solved all sections under time constraints. Analysed the solutions properly.
2. Manhattan SC Guide
3. EGMAT online course
4. Kaplan GMAT Premier.
Apart from the course material, also gave mocks of Manhattan, Kaplan, Veritas & GMAT Prep.
Manhattan Mocks: Average score was approx 620
Veritas: Gave one exam and got 650
GMAT Prep 1: 690 (Q 50, V 34)
GMAT Prep 2: 660 (Q 49, V 30)
Finally second attempt 580 (Q 49, V 21).
Request you all to please give your valuable feedback so that I can find a right direction in Verbal and can nail the same next time I appear.

Hey Amit,
Its hard to understand how you got such a low score in Verbal specifically when you were able to score okay in the Mocks.
May be there is something more to it then just practice.
From what I can see, probably you need to step back a bit and do a deeper analysis of your Verbal Section.
Give one mock again and careully analyze your Verbal section and try to point out the mistakes or patterns. Also, make sure you do not guess any question for this one, , even if you can eliminate few answers.
Probably you will be able to spot the leaks and work on them. Give it a try
Also, give some gap for your next attempt as well.

I know what you mean since I am also in a similar boat. Have been preparing on my own since last 2 months and my score has not really improved. Have not taken the GMAT yet though but the practice test have been bad. Am trying to figure out what went wrong. As soon as I get somewhere I will let you know, may be we can share our approach and something clicks.
