Thanks for the reply.

Though I can put up with the cost and the time investment, I do not know what to do differently. I have exhausted all credible material and pretty much used all the tricks in the book. Any suggestions on what i can do differently?

Alternatively, Lets say I don't retake the exam, looking my profile, any view on what my changes are at my target schools?

Appreciate your comments.

Regards,
Aj
Do you think you can get better at quant? Your 46 (64%) in quant is definitely dragging your score down. Your verbal looks fine (36=80%).

1. Getting Q49 (78%) with no improvement in verbal (36) will still get you a 710. It'll be amazing if you improve your verbal as well, but moving from 64 to 78 is probably easier than moving from 80 to 90. By the way, why do you think your verbal plateaued out?

2. Doing things differently may not be necessary. I'm new to these forums, and I see people looking for new ways of doing things, but the answer could be just doing more of the same things. I'm saying this because you're at a 46 in quant. I would probably not say it if you had a 49 or more in quant.

3. You feel that you've exhausted all the "good" material. Fair enough. Try to find out what's keeping you at 64.

4. I've seen students get into great schools with scores they were not satisfied with. Don't overestimate the importance of the GMAT score.

Also, I meant what I said about the improvement you've shown. Going from 500 to 670 is amazing.

Hi AjChakravarthy,

Since your GMAT score is 'in range' of all of the Schools that you listed, you could apply as is and be just fine (and get accepted by a variety of the Schools). As such, you might want to talk all of this over with an Admissions Expert. There's a Forum full of them here:

If you do end up choosing to retest, then post back here and we can talk through your options (I can assure you that you have NOT exhausted all credible material and you do NOT know all of the 'tricks in the book.').

Thanks for the kind words about my improvement. I completely get your point about my quant performance. I probably lost a few points because of silly mistakes and those though probability questions that you get once you get three correct in a row...

I didn't focus much on verbal and hence plateaued, actually lot one point compared to my previous GMAT score..

Also i noticed that people who got through with a low GMAT score had a above average GPA to compensate which i don't have.. So am thinking....

Thanks for your response :)

I feel, as I am closer to the median score in the last 5 schools I may have a good chance in those schools.
Among the first 5 schools I am at the lower end of their applicant pool so will be very tough.

As I am still not sure, will consult an expert about my chances and take a final decision about my retake.

Aj

Hi AjChakravarthy,

Having an objective group of people examine your profile can really help you to 'craft' your applications in the most effective way possible. Part of what goes into putting together a strong profile is in how you 'market' yourself to the Admissions Committees. If they BELIEVE that you're a strong applicant, then you have a good chance of getting an invite. Academically, you already have a GMAT score that 'fits' what they're looking for, so now you have to focus on how you can make the other parts of the application into an impressive overall 'package.'
