So a little background, I'm an international student looking to break into a top 25 MBA program and I recently finished my GMAT journey.
When I first started doing my background research I figured that a few of months would be more than enough time to prep for the exam (oh how wrong I was!). I found a few prep courses and eventually decided to go with ManhattenPrep to get in as many hours as possible. After my first official exam, I ended up with a 560 (not near enough to get me into my desired MBA program) after having spend approx. 100+ hours studying on practice examples and online lectures.
I was studying for my CFA and working concurrently but eventually decided I needed to take a month off from both of these in order to fully immerse myself in my studies. My real problem however, was my quant section. I always felt pretty confident in my math skills (if anything I thought it would be my verbal which would be lacking!) so I was pretty surprised when I saw how low my quant score was. I decided to mix things up a bit, and I went out on a limb and signed up for
Target Test Prep. This helped boost my quant score from a 38 to a 47, and laid out the topics and chapters really easily and progressively (great for someone like me who has a very logical way of thinking and enjoys "ticking the boxes"). Most importantly it improved my confidence on test day (which is crucial!).
Overall I ended up with a 680 which I am pretty proud of (even though its not the 700 which I was aiming for, I hope it will be enough o get me into my preferred MBA!).
Good luck to everyone else out there still prepping - remember to study smart not hard (I learned that lesson the hard way!).
