Hi all,

Took the test today. A little bummed now. Was hoping to score 750 since that seems to be a cut off point (99% vs. 95-98%). Will I be disadvantaged not having a 750 for Stanford and HBS? Should I consider taking it again? Studied so hard for 4 months and to not achieve my goal is very frustrating, especially knowing if I had received either a 49Q or 45V I would have scored the magical 750 and 99%. Please advise.

Excellent score!

Although I'm not quite sure I understand your dilemma. What is the difference between a 740 and 750? I don't think it'll make a difference for the admissions if you score 10 points more.

Work hard on your apps instead. G'luck!

Great score, I don't think you need to worry about re-taking GMAT. Remember GMAT is just one of the criterion for admission not the only criteria

In terms of prep I studied since first week in August. Started by reading Princeton and Kaplan books. They are good starting material, especially in terms of learning about the structure of the test and learning tips and tricks. Then I brushed up on my fundas by reading Kaplan's Math Power and Princeton's Grammar Smart. Both are very good books; one should definitely have a stone cold knowledge of fundas before starting any GMAT specific prep. Next, I did all of OG 10 - res ipsa loquitur. Then I bought the Veritas Prep (https://www.veritasprep.com) books from a friend who had taken the course and went through the whole Veritas syllabus. This stuff was awesome since it had tons of problems and the problems were the hardest ones from OG 10, LSAT, GRE, and Veritas' own. The explanations for each problem were very detailed and helpful. I am going to put the books on Ebay once I finish my apps after Jan. 15, but if anyone wants them now I will sell them for what I paid for them, $700 (the course costs $1400 if you take it). Lastly, in the final 3 weeks of prep I lurked on this board and just did a ton of quant problems. Verbal was never a worry as I test very well on standardized verbal exams. In quant I think it pays to focus on number theory (divisibility, odd vs. even, primes, remainders, units digits). Anways, I'm going to stick with the 740 and just focus on the apps. Good luck guys.
