Hi all,
I took the GMAT for the first time on 6/20 and scored a 680 (Q44/ V38). This was the lowest verbal score I've ever received on Verbal on a CAT and below what I was aiming for in Quant. In the course of my studies, I took 9 full-length CATS. 7 of them were from Princeton Review (averaging around 690 in score) and the final 2 I took in the week leading up the test were the Official Practice Tests 1 & 2 in which I scored 730 (Q48/V42) and 720 (Q46/V44). I was hoping these 700+ scores were a more accurate representation of my ability, but maybe I was wrong!
The next available exam is July 25th and I'm ready to spend the next month working towards a 720+ score. I'd love any advice you could offer in terms of the best strategies and tools for tackling a retake.
My test prep up until this point has included a 27-hour Princeton Review online course, consistent 20-25hr+ study weeks for the past 3 months (mainly focused on OG problems), and weekly full-length CATs.
Key questions:
1. I just received the official ESR. Any tips on the best way to analyze this data? Honestly, from my perspective, it doesn't look like I did half bad and should've scored 700+ but I'd love an expert's opinion and where the issues were with my test day performance / plans for improvement.
2. If I hope to take 4 more CATS (one per week over the next month), which CATs should I utilize if I have exhausted all of Princeton Review's and Tests 1 & 2 from GMAC. I'd prefer free options, but will spend if I need to for accurate assessments.
3. I've always considered Verbal my strong suit and been worried about Quant all along. Is verbal generally harder on the real exam or did I make some silly errors? Should I focus my attention equally on verbal and quant moving forward if I'm aiming for V44+ Q48+?
Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated!
