Hi,
I hope you'll be able to help me with this dilemma.
I took GMAT today and scored 740(Q49,V41). I am a bit disappointed with my score, I was expecting a 760 with Q at least 50. The very first question took me 8 mins to solve.
I'll be applying for PhD programs(Management/strategy) mainly in Europe. Currently, I am pursuing a Masters from one of France's top schools
Do you think I should retake it?

First off congrats on a great GMAT score! Regarding whether to retake what were the scores of your official practice exams? If you were scoring above 740 (close to your score goal) then I don’t see any reason not to give the GMAT one more shot. If you decide to retake and need some advice, feel free to reach out.

First off, a 740/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any PhD Programs that interest you. By extension, a retest is likely NOT necessary.
The PhD application process tends to be a bit more 'rigorous' than the MBA application process is - since there tends to be a small group of highly qualified applicants competing for a relatively small number of PhD 'slots.' As such, beyond having a strong GMAT Score, you'll need a strong OVERALL profile and you'll need to properly 'market yourself' to each individual Program that you apply to. By extension, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:
