Hi everybody!
I took the Gmat and achieve 710(Q50, V36) on 21-12-2020. I widely used gmatclub to prepare for Gmat. Hence, I want to share my gmat experience:
I started studying for the Gmat in October 2019. At that time I was a third-year student in one of the IT universities in Uzbekistan (Yes, I am from Uzbekistan). At first, I downloaded any gmat preparation books on the internet, including
MGMAT books, and studied them. Later, I realized that only some of them are reliable and useful to study, so I began to use only
MGMAT books, the most comprehensive ones. After finishing these books, I found out about “Gmatclub” and registered in this interactive MBA community on 6 Dec 2019.And, since then I have been widely using Gmatclub to prepare for Gmat. I should admit that at first , I studied for Gmat in a wrong way, just solving questions without fully analyzing. I rarely read gmatclub expert’s explanations of questions, with little care. I was just studying for speed, not for learning, a really bad way of preparing that I highly recommend you to avoid. In May 2020, I encountered an explanation of some Uzbek guy,
JonShukhrat , in Gmatclub while looking through other user’s explanations, and believe it or not, I felt over the moon since I had always thought that I was the only Uzbek guy who was studying for Gmat. Feeling the great opportunity to exchange ideas and thoughts on gmat, I sent him PM and he responded. He said that I was studying in a wrong manner and suggested that I learn from the posts of Gmat experts. Then, I began carefully to read explanations of experts, especially
RonPurewal ,
GMATGuruNY , @IanStenwart . These guy’s explanations are indeed helpful. However, they are so meaningful that my crazy mind cannot digest what is explained. I remember that I asked ,countless times,
JonShukhrat to explain what other experts wrote, and he elucidated perfectly in the way I could understand. While studying for Gmat, I really relied on consistency and self-discipline. Everyday, I did SC, CR, RC, and Quant questions with really thorough analysis: For example, I sometimes did only one SC a day, sometimes, ten a day. I took official mocks, and results are:
Official practice 3 Sep 13 2020: 760(50, 44)
Official practice 4 Sep 19 2020: 740(50, 38)
Official practice 5 Sep 30 2020: 760(50, 42)
Official practice 6 Nov 22 2020: 760(50, 44)
Official Gmat Dec 21 2020: 710(50, 36)
Quantitive section:
Quant questions are equal to gmatprep ones in terms of difficulty. Yet, two or three questions had convoluted wording, making me read several times. I finished 15-17 minutes earlier. Overall, real gmat quant questions are not more difficult than those in gmatprep.
Vebral:
Sentence correction questions seemed the most frequent. They were not more difficult and long than those in gmatprep.
Critical reasoning:
At first, I was given shorter questions, but later quite long ones.
Conclusion and weaken questions were the most frequent ones
Interestingly, Strength questions were not given.
Reading comprehension:
First three passages were short ones, having only two paragraphs. Yet, last passage were long one, having three paragraphs.
Some answer choices in *inference questions* are different from the information in the passage in only one but extreme word, such as *every* or *most*.
As in quant, Time was not problem in vebral.
The problem was with myself. In vebral section, I kind of lost concentration, even reading simple sentences several times. This is perhaps because I have not practiced long enough and have taken gmat first time.
I indeed want to thank you
RonPurewal for great explanations,
GMATGuruNY ,for awesome elucidations and quick response, and
IanStewart for quickly replying and explaining. And finally,
JonShukhrat : I don’t know how to show my thankfulness and what to say about what you have done for me. When I first asked you to help me, you did not refuse to assist some crazy and lazy guy, who you even have never seen. Admittedly, I was really dumb (maybe still I am), giving unnecessary questions. Yet, with your patience, you still kept helping and teaching me not only academically, but also socially. You indeed showed me how to study effectively and played an important role in my preparation. I personally consider you the best teacher and a good man, who is willing to help young aspirants to achieve their goals. Everybody can know and understand something, but not everyone can perfectly and effectively explain what he/she knows. I think that you do this very well, and you have done already. I expect a perfect score from you: Indeed, you deserve this with your experience and knowledge. In order to be experts in any field, one does not have to get some kind of official declaration. And, I think experts are experts because they are uniquely brilliant to understand and explain problems. Hence, Once again Thank you, the best ever Gmat experts, very much:
RonPurewal GMATGuruNYIanStewart JonShukhrat Finally, I must acknowledge that in my country Uzbekistant, Gmat is not common: there are very few people who study for Gmat, and unfortunately there is a kind of misconception among this very small group of people: achieving +600 is impossible. Please just listen Uzbek guys who are eager to study at top universities and want to study for Gmat.
If you believe that achieving +600 or +700 is impossible, I undoubtedly agree with you. Strikingly, If you believe that achieving +600 or +700 is possible, I still agree with you. This is because, this idea is just in your mind. Please just care about how to attain your desired score, whether it is 700 or even 800, not about whether it is possible to achieve such score. If you are studying for Gmat, that means you have decided to study in one of the top universities. If they expect +700 score from you, you have to obtain the required score: That is it, you don’t have anyway, but to take this score. To be honest, at first I prepared for Gmat in a wrong manner because I did not have any idea of how to study effectively.
JonShukhrat really taught me how to study efficiently and analyze thoroughly. I hope that he will keep doing so for other lazy, but eager uzbek guys.
