Hi!
I was hoping to get some advice/shared experiences based on my latest attempt to take the online GMAT.
I was registered to take my second attempt last Friday. I passed my system checks and started the test. Immediately after I started, my home phone started ringing incessantly. My family had left so that I could be undisturbed, which in hindsight was a terrible idea, but that meant I couldn't answer the phone. A few minutes later, the doorbell began ringing also incessantly and I started to get worried it might be an emergency, so I contacted my proctor to see if I could get up to answer the doorbell. While I was waiting for his reply, whoever was ringing the bell started yelling my name, which I thought for sure meant something urgent was happening. So when my proctor came back to me, about 10 minutes after all this started, he suggested I cancel the exam and he'd give me a case to have it rescheduled. So I said yes and the exam was cancelled.
I went to check what was going on and it turns out it was the security guard in our home complex who just wanted to let me know that a guy was home to see my father about some non-urgent business. Needless to say, this was not really an emergency, but I had no way of knowing this before cancelling the exam
So I immediately started working on rescheduling the exam, and initially got told that it would take up to 5 days to review my case. This meant I would no longer be able to take my exam on time for my university applications. Finally, today I was told that my request to reschedule the exam had been refused since I had no documents that could prove my emergency. I have no idea how to proceed now, and would greatly appreciate any tips. But more than anything, this is completely indignant and unfair, as I was directly told by the proctor that I could attempt the test again!
Sorry for the rant and I appreciate any help!
