Hello all,
I've lurked on this board for a few months now, and read much of the helpful advice posted on this board as I was studying for the GMAT. I must say that this is a remarkable site with lots of great information. Anyway, I was hoping some of you could help me out as to what to do now that I have taken the GMAT for the first time and did not get close to the score I want.
Like many of you, I am shooting for a 700 to help get me into a Top 15 business school. I don't necessarily need to keep taking this until I get a 700, but nothing lower than 650-660, because as you all know, a score lower than this and the math of acceptance rates starts working against you significantly.
In order to accomplish this, I seem to be one of the few here who went with the Route of a Princeton Review Course. The course met twice a week, 3 hours a class, for a month, starting In early August. As part of the course, they provided us with the OG 11, their own book which the classes were taught out of, and a huge amount of online questions, study information and examinations. In class we went through strategies and problems over the course of the month. There was a ton of homework problems assigned, from online questions to doing most of the Official Guide to other materials. I did most of it, but working a full time job prevented me from doing absoultely all of it. You took 5 online exams as part of the course. For me, they all varied between 580-640. When the course ended I also took the 2 GMAT Prep official exams, and got a 650 and a 690. I really thought I could break 650, and had a shot at 700.
Obviously, I was wrong. I am pretty good in math, and was shocked at how low my math score was. I really should be able to score into the mid or high 40's. My highest practice math was 48. Verbal I started at around 30 and PR helped me to get into the mid 30's but no higher.
Anyway, I have done a lot of work for the class, taken 7 practice exams, did lots of the official guide and other PR materials, and obvioulsy i did not get near the score i want. So now I feel a little bit stuck. What should I do next? How do i get the math and verbal higher? I was hoping to get this done in time for ROund 1 Apps but now this is not looking likely.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!
