Hello-
First of all, thank you to all the contributors and moderators of the GMAT Club. You guys are doing a great service.
Now, my profile-
I am an engineer turned project manager government employee. 10+ years of work experience with a family (1 child). I want to pursue an MBA to get into management (Most management folks have PE and an MBA).
My study habits were, 1-2 hours/day and 2-3 hours on the weekends. With 8-5 job and a family, there is only so much time you can devote. I felt fairly confident after studying about 2 months and I spend last month taking mocks and reviwing the questions that I got wrong.
My goal is to get into an evening MBA program in CO, so I was not looking for a 750 or even a 700. I would have been happier with a score between 600-650. But I scored 570!!!
Resources that I used-
1. e-gmat for SC and RC
2. CR Bible for CR
3. Magoosh for Quant

Mock 3 Aug 8 660
Mock 4 Aug 15 630 Q 47 V 30
I took the first mock and scored a 560. Not a big deal, need to review all the material once again and keep taking mocks. 2nd mock , 640, 3rd, 660. These mocks were all official GMAT prep. So before going in for my official test, I felt confident that I would get somewhere between 620-650. All mocks were taken at my basement in almost real test condition. Ear plugs, no distractions. I even have a cubical set up to replicate the test center environment. Nothing worked!!! Before my official test day, I went to bed at 9 pm and woke up at around 5. So I was well rested.
Drove to the center in Westminster CO and began my test. Quant felt like I was doing well and got may be 5-6 wrong. And then Verbal happened. I have never seen CR question language like this before. I think the test kept asking me Evaluate the Argument questions over and over again. And I really didn't know what they were asking in SC. Even though I was at 75-83% correct in my practice and in e-gmat course.All the questions look as if they were written in some other language. I think I did ok in RC, ESR attached.
I am looking for answers here. I am really puzzled. I was doing good in mocks and practice questions but the actual test felt like I got hit by a train. It was just so hard and then you see 570 on the screen. Terrible!!!
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. I will talk to my local universities here to see if 570 is acceptable. If not, I will retake the test in 2-3 months.

I am sorry to hear that you did not do as expected on the GMAT. I know that it can be really disheartening if you prepare for the test and not succeed. Given what you have mentioned, it seems that you have put in a good amount of effort so let us figure out where you faltered.
Here is how we recommend that we go about:
Figure out if you had a bad day
Since you underperformed significantly in both Quant and Verbal, it is very possible that you had a bad day. By looking at the data in your account, we can figure out whether you had a bad day or are the ESR scores representative of your true ability. Remember, accuracy without context, can be a misleading indicator on the GMAT. So, write to me at [email protected] using your e-GMAT id so that we can get a true estimate of your current ability using questions that you answered in Scholaranium.
Create an improvement plan
Depending on the response to #1, we can create an improvement plan. If you have the ability and just had a bad day, then all we would need to do would be to make your test ready. On the other hand, if you have ability gaps then we will create an improvement plan for you.
How long will you need?
Regardless of whether you need to enhance your ability or focus on test readiness, you should not need more than 45 days (15-20 if all you need is test-readiness) to improve by ~80 points if you put in about 15-18 hours every week. Let us diagnose the cause and work towards turning this around.

When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. You've provided a lot of detailed information about your studies so far, so before we discuss any of those potential issues, it would help to see your Enhanced Score Report.
While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). Before you can include attachments with your posts/PMs, you need to have at least 5 posts in the forums (right now, you have just 1 post). If you would rather not go through those extra steps at this point, then you can feel free to email your ESR to me directly (at [email protected]).
