Hi Violith,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day did not turn out better. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
3) What is your overall goal score?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hi Rich, thanks a lot for your feedback and your answer.

Studies:
1) So since Dec. 2020 I have studied around 2 hours a day and around 8 hours on the weekends. I have a pretty time intense job (as many here), so I can only study in the timeframe from around 8:30 pm to 12:00pm. I was wondering if I wasn't strategic enough because by now, pretty much everybody should have been able to excel with that much study time under their belt.
2)
1st OG Practice Test - 9 Dec 2020
Score 510 | Verbal 32 | Quant 28

2nd OG Practice Test - 6 January 2021
Score 610 | Verbal 35 | Quant 37

3rd OG Practice Test - 31 March 2021
Score 640 |Verbal 35 | Quant 42

4th OG Practice Test - 16 May 2021
Score 630 | Verbal 36 | Quant 40

1st OG Practice Test again - 28 Oct. 2021
Score 710 | Verbal 42 | Quant 45

Goals:
3) What is your overall goal score?
I was planning on 700, but I think I would have a decent chance of getting into good universities with around 680. (My background/ profile is not super overrepresented I believe)

4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
I was planning on applying to schools in January, but I cannot apply with 610, so I need to reconsider what is feasible. My dream MBAs would be at ESADE, Columbia and NYU. I am very aware that 610 I don't even have to consider applying though :(.

I actually bought the ESR and would be thrilled if you could give me feedback on it!!

Many thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!

Hi Vio.

I realize your situation seems tough, but if you take a step back you'll see some good news.

For one thing, V35 is close the upper 30s type of verbal score you need to score in the 700s, and maybe all you need in verbal is to have a good day at the test center to score even in the low 40s.

Meanwhile, increasing your quant score is pretty straightforward. It's just a matter of mastering one topic at a time to basically drive your quant score up point by point.

So, in a way, you're looking good, and part of what's going on is that the difference between your inflated practice test score and your GMAT score has thrown you off a little.

Honestly, if you just complete the TTP course normally, you'll master all the quant topics and improve your verbal skills, with the result that you'll hit your score goal.

If you want to discuss this further in the context of your TTP analytics, please feel free to reach out to the team via the in-course chat.

Meanwhile, since proper practice is key for achieving consistency in verbal, see these posts to gain some insights into how to best prepare for verbal.

Thank you so much Marty, I truly appreciate you taking the time to answer and supporting me! Will take the steps you suggested!
