You seem to already have a Q49 and I think that's not wroth trying to get to Q50 or 51 unless you feel it will be easy. Instead you need to focus on Verbal

There are lots of resources.
MGMAT is great if you only do verbal, still may be a bit aggressive by Feb 12th. You can also get the Kaplan Verbal Workbook - it is the poor man's MGMAT
You can get one of the monthly subscription courses like EMPOWERgmat or TTP - they are $99 and will be the most economical option.
One of the shortest courses is Magoosh. There is also obviously e-GMAT.

That's really it. I would poke around and see what fits you best. All of these will get you to a higher Verbal Score.

Hi Asprep,

You can go through manhattan prep strategy guides for concepts, and buying an online course should be a good idea. What were your quant and verbal splits in the mock?

Good Luck!

Thank you for the reply! They were Q45, V39; Q44,V33; Q49,V31; Q50,V39.

Thank you for the reply. Then i will just do TTIP, MGMAT, and Gmat club forum entries for reviewing topics, and the rest of the official practices for keeping track of my progress.

Hi Asprep,
I also recommend Manhattan prep strategies guides. If you mention your area of strength and weakness regarding the test, I can suggest an online platform.

Thanks!

Asprep - 670 is an excellent starting point. Most of your improvement needs to come from GMAT Verbal. So as next steps, you need to decide the subsections that will drive this improvement, create an improvement plan for each subsection, execute that improvement plan, and track your improvement and you should be able to achieve that 730 score.

Here is an example of a study plan that Rafaella used to improve from 630 to 730. You will notice how her study strategies for different subsections were driven by her starting abilities in the respective sub-sections.

Rafaella's study plan: https://success.e-gmat.com/RafeallaStudyPlan

Track Metrics

Track metrics as you start executing on that study plan. Devise focussed booster (e.g. modifier booster, comparisons booster, Inequalities booster, etc.) plans, if needed. Here is an example of how a high scorer's metrics look like: https://success.e-gmat.com/750AccountMetrics

I hope the above helps. Reach out to [email protected] if you need more help.

Regarding prep courses, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses, and also read through some GMAT success stories to see what materials have worked well for other test-takers.

You also may find it helpful to read this article about how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.

Good luck!

Hi Asprep,

First off, a 670/Q49 is a strong Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

Based on your CAT/mock results and Official Score - and that you did not study much before taking the Official GMAT - you're clearly a strong overall critical thinker (which is great). The variations in your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores are likely due to a few lucky/unlucky guesses and a handful of little mistakes (that you either made or did not make on individual sections). An additional 12 days of study might be enough for you to hone the necessary skills to hit your Score Goal - but that's a relatively short timeframe (meaning that it might not be enough time for you to CONSISTENTLY score at that higher level). In addition, if you are thinking of "cramming" during that time, then you have to be careful about not 'burning out' before Test Day (and that type of study rarely leads to great results with Exams such as the GMAT).

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) On what date did you take your Official GMAT?
2) On what dates did you take your last 2 CATs/mocks?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Hello Rich,

Thank you so much for the reply!

1) I took my Gmat on January 3rd. I am planning to retake it in February after finishing my final exams at uni.
2) I took my 2nd last mock 3 days and last mock 1 day before the exam.
3) I am planning to apply to data science and/or finance programs. School wise i would like to apply to LSE(Finance), Bocconi(Finance and/or data science), UC Berkley(information managament), Northwestern and other similiar schools.

I will also check out the ESR. Thank you!

Hello, thank you for the reply. I think my weaknesses are mostly from verbal(specially sentence corrections). And in general i do not know how to approach verbal questions(strategies and topics wise).

But for quant i feel like i know all the topics and i just need to do a bit more official practices. Also, practice probability questions.
