Hey i am targeting over 650

in the gmat official mocks i was scoring around 500 -540

On the GMAT my scores were V17 & Q38
OK, so, you still have a fair amount of work to do in both quant and verbal.

For quant, you need to just keep working on one topic at a time to basically drive your score up point by point.

To master on a quant topic, review or learn the relevant concepts and strategies and then practice answering questions involving that topic until you are getting a high percentage of them correct. Ideally you'd be getting 90+ percent of easy, 80+ percent of medium, and 60+ percent of hard questions correct by the time you are done with a topic. Also, it works best to start off practicing a topic untimed and achieve high accuracy and then, once you have achieve high accuracy, work on answering the questions at test pace.

By mastering one quant topic at a time in that way and achieving those practice accuracies, you'll eventually master the entire quant section.

Regarding verbal, you can work topic by topic in verbal as well. At the same time, there are some key things you need to understand in order to prepare for verbal effectively. So, I recommend reading the following post to learn how to prepare effectively for GMAT verbal.

Hi Ashish,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned (and while losing power at the beginning of the Exam was clearly a distraction, it's not enough to explain the decrease in your overall performance). When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week? What type of studying were you doing before then?
2) Did you use any other study materials besides the course that you mentioned and the OG16? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to? Are you facing any immediate application deadlines?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Here's a student I had who, when they started by themselves, began from a 420 base. They ended up with a balanced 730 score. May be some helpful insight you can leverage. They mention a variety of resources and tips.
