I started studying over a ago with mixed results. Historically, I had always excelled at Quant but struggled with Verbal, and my practice exams reflected this. I utilized
Magoosh and
Manhattan Prep to slowly improve my practice exams scores in both areas but saw the most improvement in Verbal. By the time my first official exam came around, I felt prepared, but my official results after the exam indicated otherwise. I took a week off to reflect and understand what could have happened. I determined that I felt fatigued after the exam, specifically after the verbal section. I shared my experience with a tutor from
Manhattan Prep and the tutor recommended that I increase my mental endurance. I layered in longer sets of questions and meditation in an effort to improve my endurance. I attempted the exam once again, but I did slightly worse than first attempt and still felt fatigued. NOW with all that background, I again reflected on the issue to identify the cause. My girlfriend made the observation one day that I was squinting hard and often but I had not noticed. I grew accustomed to habit, but would mostly ignore it during work, studying or other activities because I had the space to reduce strain. FAST FORWARD to today. I have visited an eye doctor and fitted for contacts. I experienced immediate relief, but still working to tune in the eyes. I am waiting to take my next exam so I can get accustomed to the lenses and I am using TTP to study during this phase. My fingers are crossed this adjustment leads to improved results in the coming months.
