Hi, this is my first ever post on GMAT club, but I wanted to share my online exam experience since this forum helped me a lot in my GMAT prep. I recently took the GMAT Online and received a 750+ score. The next day I received an email from GMAC Test Security saying that my exam is under review, which could take up to 20 business days.
As I'm sure some people reading this might be doing, I immediately came here to see if others had experienced something similar. I saw a handful of posts on this forum saying that their scores had been cancelled after administrative review for seemingly no reason. Most of these cases occurred for test-takers who drastically improved from their last score and/or scored 700+, so I started expecting a similar fate.
After 4 or 5 days, I decided to check my GMAT profile again to see if there was any update in my exam status. Previously, it had been marked as "Pending." To my surprise, it now said "Score Reportable." I was a bit confused about whether this meant that my essay had been graded but my exam was still under review or if the overall review was complete. The GMAC email had said, "Once this review is completed you will be notified via email," but I hadn't received any further emails. I reached out to the test security team via email to see if my review had indeed been completed, and I was told that it was.
I just wanted to share this because when I was scouring the forum, I mainly saw unfortunate administrative review cases that made myself more anxious. If someone is in my shoes in the future, I hope they will see this and know that those unfortunate cases seem to be exceptions, rather than the norm. With all that said, I would still recommend taking the exam in-person if you can. If I had known about the possibility of GMAT cancelling my online score with little explanation, I would have opted to take it in-person. But fortunately things worked out.
Also, big shoutout to
Target Test Prep - it is a great program and was instrumental in my achieving the score I did.
