Hi everyone,
Has anyone taken the GMAT online test recently? Is it still plagued with issues?
I took the GMAT at a test center today but one of the proctors ruined my experienced and took up a lot of my time in Verbal. I've been consistently scoring 38-40 on V but ended up with 31. My markers ran out of ink and I raised my hand for 5 minutes and had to ask for new markets twice. When she came the second time I asked if the markers were new and she said yes and had brought the box over. Then she tried to talk to me when I had earplugs and the headphones on. Took a lot of effort to take everything off and I ended up asking her if I could focus on the exam. The experience (which took place very early in verbal) ruined my rest of the section and made me very distracted and upset. I definitely had to rush through the section as I lost a lot of time.
I took quant first and scored my expected 49. Altogether ended up with 660 when I've been consistently scoring 720 the past few days.
I was advised to take the GMAT online so I don't have this test center mishap again but reading up on the horror stories also sound scary. This was my first time taking the GMAT so I don't have any backup scores and I'm planning on applying to first rounds in the upcoming months. I'm aware sometimes GMAT online takes 20 days to review so that would make my timeline very risky. I'd rather take the test in the comfort of my own home but am afraid I'll encounter issues and won't have a score for applications. My office does have mirrors on one side so I was planning on facing my camera at the mirror so the proctors can see everything in my room so I can't be accused for cheating. Or should I just go to the test center again?
Thanks!
