Hello everyone,
I recently gave my GMAT exam in India and I am happy to share that I scored
700-Q50 V34 IR7.
I started my preparation 2 months back, which is relatively short time, but I decided to give my exam by Aug end, so that I can have ample time for the college applications. I gave my first GMAT prep official mock -1 on July 1st and scored 610 Q49 V25. I know that I am strong in Quant, but I need to improve significantly in verbal to achieve a 700 score. Initially I read
MGMAT verbal book for concepts and then started practicing questions from the GMAT club.
I decided to give mock tests in the 1 month preceding the exam. I didn't buy any mock test series since I knew there would not be sufficient time to complete all the mocks. I just gave all the free mock tests. These are my free mock test score:
Experts global 03 Aug 670 Q47 V34
Manhattan prep 08 Aug 660 Q47 V33
Princeton 12 Aug 650 Q47 V33
GMAT club tests 15 Aug V38 V40 Q40 Q48
E-gmat 18 Aug 670 Q47 V34
Target test prep 29 Aug 690 Q50 V34
I was constantly getting around V34 and I knew that if I could get Q49 or Q50 and V34 in the exam, I could reach the 700 mark. I also took advantage of the 1 day free access for the
GMAT club tests on 15-08-2023. I actually got V38 and V40 in two verbal tests in the
GMAT club tests, which I found were little bit easier than the official tests. But Quant is very difficult and it prepares you for the tough questions in the exam. In the last one month, I solved only 650+ questions, since I knew that there is no point in solving easy questions and wasting time. I would say 80% of my preparation was Verbal only, especially SC, because I don’t want to make mistakes in SC.
In the GMAT exam, all the four passages I got were long passages and each option had 3-4 lines because of which I had to spend more time for the passages. I decided not to panic and read each option clearly and eliminated the options. For the AWA also, I followed the standard structure on the GMAT club and went with the flow.
I want to thank the GMAT club community wholeheartedly since my whole preparation has been done in GMAT club only.
