Hi RishiRamdani,

It looks like you have built out quite a schedule. I think seeing your first official mock score would be helpful regarding your path forward. Also, for some general advice and tips on how to structure your study plan, here is a great article you can check out:

Hello GmatKnightTutor, bb and ScottTargetTestPrep, thank you for your advice. I took my first practice exam this morning, and the final score is really disappointing: 435 (78 V / 70 Q / 67 DI).

Since I had very little practice with the questions, I found it very difficult to understand them quickly and associate them with a concept I know. I panicked quickly when I saw the length of some questions and the time I had left, especially in DI and Verbal. As a result, I chose to skip the longer ones to focus on the shorter ones, answering without really looking at or reading the text. That was clearly not the right solution, and maybe I should have focused on each question, even if I didn’t have time to finish.

The Verbal section was really tough for me, even though I spent the week practicing RC. When I’m in an environment without a time limit, I have a good percentage of correct answers on hard questions. I think the timer completely threw me off and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

The schools I'm aiming for seem really far out of reach now. I hope I'll be able to close the gap with enough practice on the questions and by understanding my mistakes.

Quant:
10 correct / 10 wrong / 1 unanswered

Verbal:
11 correct / 12 wrong / 0 unanswered

DI:
9 correct / 9 wrong / 1 unanswered

Checking out posted debriefs by people who've scored well/improved their scores (for example on RC) could be helpful. You could see what they did/used along the way and maybe take some quick tips as well. For time management, consider using question/time markers.

Finally, I'll keep the 5 remaining official mock tests for the last five weeks (one per weekend).
Hi RishiRamdani,

You may want to hold off on a couple of official practice tests, just in case you want or need to retake the actual GMAT.

All the best.

Thank you for the update.=11pt[color=#000000]Seeing your score, it's clear you need to continue to find your holes and fix those to help improve your quant score. A great way to do that is with topical practice.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.

For some more tips on the best way to structure your studying, here is a great article:

Hello everyone,

A quick update on my GMAT progress. Yesterday I took the second mock test and scored 605!

I felt much more confident in the quantitative / DI sections but I struggled in the verbal section (I couldn't get a clear picture of the passages).

The official date for my exam is 16 November, so I've got 45 days left to consolidate my quantitative score and practise the verbal section to build up my confidence.
