how much of a difference is a 640 and 610. People say luck changes a person's score plus or minus 30 points. You think a 30 points can really get you in or keep you out?

I'm personally trying to get into one of the top 5 programs so a 700+ score is preferred (Quick fyi for those who may be curious, I have a friend who scored a 710 and has just been accepted by Wharton, Stanford, Harvard and Kellogg). I know I can hit 700+ so I'm not gonna give up. I think I just have to change my strategy. For this attempt, I went in with the idea that the more questions I worked through the better. Unfortunately, I didn't really "learn" the principles/basics from this approach (as my test score shows), so I really need to get creative and really focus on how and why answers are correct/incorrect.

On another note, I'm interested in international business/Finance with a China focus. Honestly, there aren't many programs out there yet that really focus on this besides some of the EMBA programs though Univ of Chicago has a neat IMBA program that shows potential and also validates the hard work I've put into speaking Mandarin fluently.
