I live in Japan. I am going to apply in IUJ only. IUJ is International University of Japan and its MBA program is in 100% English with almost 100% placement report in Japan. I have already passed the Daily-Conversation Japanese level last December. If I get admission in IUJ, my plans are to study and pass Business-Japanese level test in parallel with my MBA program. The program will start in Sept-2007. I like to see myself attending orientation program this year. :-D

I see... Depending on your mother tongue, the learning of Japanese is more or less easy to be done :)... Are u able to speak other asian languages? :)

I should admit that I regret the relative closeness of the japanese workplace :)... Ideally, I would be very interested by an experience in Japan if I could avoid to learn the language before, an hard part for a latin man like me ;) :)

hahahaa....no, it is not easy to learn Japanese if you consider my mother tongue. But these days it is not that hard to get a job here in Japan even if you can not speak Japanese. By the way, I like learning languages so I enjoy here :)

i think the awa is just to show that the candidate can write properly and have some form or structure to their essays. I remember when i took my exam, i just wrote down a few items regardless of whether they held a strong argument or not and my score was still a 6. I was actually quite surprised by this.

Japanese is not difficult to learn itself, but living in this society is a problem. One will always be out of society and never become a part of it. The better you understand Japanese language, the more the local people demand from you.

Regarding the jobs in Japan, I do not think it is easy as it may seem. Japanese corporations perefer to hire local peole whos behaviour is quite predictable, instead of bright smart people from overseas.

But anyway, good luck to you. But think before going to a B-school like those in Japan. Japanese diplomas are not welcome in other countries, moreover they are useless. I am not sure of IUJ study policy, but what I saw in other universities ( I have Masters from a Japanese Grad. School), it is just waste of time. No knowldge, cooperation, experience, etc.

Think of China, in 20 years we all will have to speak Chinese. And subway inTokyo will cost you not 460 yen , but about 5 yuan :-)
Do not believe me ? Go to Shanghai and see.

Good luck.

Haha reading this thread is making me miss Japan. Even though I lived there for a year, my Japanese is warui yo, but I suppose there is still time.

...coincidentally, I've been watching Prince of Tennis on YouTube for the past week -- and now the nihongo is slowing creeping back into my brain. Or just mixing with my equally substandard French into some kind of Eurasian mutation.

Congrats on the 5.5! :D

Dear Yashchenko, learning Japanese is not easy if you are thinking about writing and reading skills. You really need to work very hard. As for speaking and listening skills, Japanese people use different kind of Japanese (Keigo) at workplace. They use different Japanese at home. It is not difficult to learn daily level listening and speaking Japanese which they use at home or generally but business Japanese is totally different. I have been living in Japan since 2002 and have had my own share of troubles in the beginning. But what is the fun in life without challenges?? Am I right??? I love here, want to live here and work here. :)

Talking about jobs in Japan, I guess after US you can get best paid jobs in Japan. Yes, if you are going to apply for a Japanese-only company it is really difficult to get in there but if you are trying for a multinational company in Japan then it is not that difficult. As for Japanese skills, it depends on the type of work here. If you opt for some IT companies or financial sectors like Goldman Sach, Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers....no need of Japanese at all :)

Dear Rooder, thanks for congratulating me! You can try again :) By the way, what brought you here? Why did you leave after one year? I guess you were a NOVA teacher here, right??? :)

Glad to see somebody from Japan in this forum.

Summer, how is your application process going on?

I am also staying in Japan and I heard that there is an interview and written test for applicants from Japan (residents) at IUJ. Would like to hear your experience. Did you apply for the third intake?

Knew that you have lifted JLPT 3rd level with a high percentage. Are you aiming at JLPT 2nd level also or only business japanese, along with your MBA? IUJ's E-business management program do not have a 100% placement record (but they say their MBA program has 100% placement). IUJ says that the placement problem is mainly due to the lack of japanese language proficiency. So as you said having japanese language proficiency will definitely boost our chances. I am concentrating there too..

All the best.

Hi Krishnam,

Yes, there was an interview and an essay writing test. My interview lasted about 20 minutes and the essay test was one hour long. Both went pretty good. Now I am waiting for my result which IUJ will send in the first week of June.

I am planning to take JLPT-2 by the time I finish my MBA from IUJ. Hope everything will go fine :-)

Fingers crossed!!!! Countdown has started :-)

Regards,
Summer

My result is here!!! I applied to only IUJ, Japan (my dream B-School) and I am going to join it this year :-)

I thank you all my friends here especially fig, ricokevin and many others for their great help and support.

Many many thanks!!!

krishnam, anything I can do for you to help you get to IUJ, please do not hesitate. Frankly speaking, I was in continuous contact with IUJ alumni and discussed a lot...mentioning their names in my interview really impressed the faculty.

I am looking forward to see you there next year....please send me e-mail if you need any info.
