Hi guys,
So I took the GMAT a few weeks ago and wanted to share my journey, with the hope of helping others.
Beginning-
I started researching about GMAT in december last year and I wanted a course where I wouldn't have to figure out the study plan myself and one which would not only cover the syllabus but also do it comprehensively, so that I don't have to look any further. I mainly used reddit, GMATClub and ChatGPT for the recommendations and after going through loads of reviews, I went with TTP, and in hindsight, I am happy I did.
I gave the cold mock in early Jan and got 615 and was neither happy nor disappointed with it.
Grind-
I started with the TTP mid-Jan and studied roughly 10-12 hours a week with the CFA L1 and college. Using TTP was so simple- The whole syllabus is divided into missions which lets you keep track of your progress, and each mission has a quant or a quant and a verbal or a DI chapter which are then again broken down into well-structured lessons. So I just completed a chapter, went to the chapter tests to practice, logged my errors within the platform itself, and the chapter was done.
For the Quant, one thing I liked the most about TTP was that it doesn't just throw formulas at you, rather explains the 'why' behind every concept and wherever applicable, shows different ways of solving a question which was a game changer for me as it really helped me in dealing with complex questions.
My weak area was Verbal, and through TTP's superbly detailed explanations, I was able to improve my accuracy overtime because slowly the explanations helped me in dealing with highly nuanced CR and RC.
For the DI section, TTP had Data sufficiency questions throughout the Quant section which helped me get familiar with it overtime and improve my speed, because time management is literally the differentiator when it comes to DI.
5 months of study on and off, and the D-day came. Test anxiety was at its peak, so much so, I had to calm myself down by thinking that I can give another attempt within days, so its not do or die. I just made sure this thought doesn't make me complacent, and fortunately it didn't because the mental benefits of that cushion outweighed the harm, an anxious mind would have had on my score.
I am glad that I did not have any issues with the exam process at the center, which definitely would have affected my score, otherwise. I went with my strongest section first, Quant, then Verbal, break and then DI. For me, DI needed a fresh mind so I kept it after the break. Got 715 but I felt I could have done better.
2nd attempt-
I registered for my 2nd attempt approx a month later due to my college exams in between. Didn't study much for the 2nd attempt, just went through some bookmarks in the TTP. Unfortunately, just before the exam day, I fell ill, and couldn't sleep the whole night due to severe headache, and gave the exam with my head throbbing and eyes feeling as they would pop out. Somehow managed to get 705, due to strong concept clarity, thanks to TTP.
Bottom Line-
If you're serious about the GMAT and want a course that treats the test with the seriousness and depth it deserves, TTP is more than worth it
. If you choose to go with it, make sure to stick with it, and more importantly trust yourself. Good Luck!!
