Hi Everyone,
I took the GMAT last week and I was very very depressed to have received a 420(32Q and 16V)! I was very unhappy all weekend and thought I would just forget about the MBA. But Monday morning I woke up like a complete different person and I am ready to get back on it again. I am planning to retake it again in 6 weeks. I am trying to get a full scholarship but for that, I need a 700+. I know I have a lot of studying to do. Does anyone have any tips? I'll truly appreciate your help.
There is always one thing I use to boost my motivation: a low score means a room for improvement.
Can you climb from 420 to 700+ ? YES, of course, as many did.
Can you do it in 6 weeks ? I don't know, but never heard of a jump of 300 points in 6 weeks. I would suggest giving yourself much more time. But it eventually depends on you and on how much you can devote yourself to it.

Hi,
I agree with Mishree. GMAT takes time and patience. I suggest give yourself till September at least before you take GMAT again. You will have enough time to prepare and if you do well, the timing will exactly conincide with first round of admissions.
Does anyone have any tips? I'll truly appreciate your help.
Best wishes, Shradha

I have a tip: take way more time than 6 weeks. If you were shooting for 700+ with a 600 - 650, then 6 weeks could work. But from a 420? Unless there were other issues (stress, time management, etc.) I think you need to work on fundamentals.

I agree.
Unless you want to raise the %ile for th rest of us, I would suggest you prepare incrementally. Prepare for 6 weeks and aim for a 580-620. Take a GMATPrep. Then take a little break and prepare for another 6 weeks and aim for 700+
Look at some of the people who went from 400s to 700s. It took them months if not nearly a year to make the improvement. Do not take the GMAT lightly.
