Congratulations on the score!
JP234
Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share my GMAT Focus journey—especially for anyone feeling stuck, facing a long break, or still searching for a structured strategy that really works. I started my prep aiming for a September 2024 attempt and, after two phases of study with Target Test Prep (TTP), managed to drive my Quant score from Q84 to Q90, my DI from DI80 to DI82, and finally hit V85 in Verbal. This post is for anyone doubting their progress or returning after a setback—TTP’s Flexible Prep plan was absolutely central to my comeback.

I come from an engineering background and was fairly comfortable with Quant, but I was able to crack the efficiency and speed bit under pressure. My Verbal performance was much less consistent; I needed a system to boost accuracy and confidence. After reading countless reviews on GMAT Club and Reddit, I picked TTP for its adaptive structure and depth.

Other test prep resources felt a bit generic or rigid, but TTP’s Flexible Prep was very agile and effective:
  • Straightforward explanations and logical frameworks in Verbal, debunking “shortcut” approaches that had failed me.
  • AI-generated practice questions built into lessons, constantly keeping content fresh as I revised and revisited topics.
  • Easy access to Quant and DI chapter tests, showcasing simplified methods and truly optimized solving strategies.
  • Powerful custom test creation, allowing targeted practice on weak areas and improvement in both speed and accuracy.
  • Quant flashcards—a lifesaver for final revision, with all concepts condensed for quick review.

Quant – TTP’s Simplified Approach
Despite my Quant confidence, TTP’s methods genuinely moved the needle. Many tricky GMAT concepts—like highest power in factorials, overlapping sets, permutation/combination, and probability—were transformed for me through their stepwise logic in chapter tests and explanatory lessons. My accuracy and pacing visibly improved across practice sets, and my performance became far more resilient even when faced with tricky exam questions.

Verbal – Rediscovering Consistency
Verbal had always been my weak link. The Flexible Prep plan helped me re-focus: I stopped chasing question numbers and concentrated on core concepts. TTP’s AI feature kept generating varied, high-quality questions inside each chapter, helping push my internalization of CR, RC, and SC strategies. After a rough patch and two below-target attempts (July 645, August 665), a month of concentrated verbal basics helped settle my pacing and finally led to a satisfying V85 in my next attempt.

Study Timeline & Comeback
My journey wasn’t linear. After a personal roadblock in 2024, I resumed prep in April 2025. TTP’s system made it easy to pick up where I left off, making structured revision possible after a long break. I followed the study maps and timelines closely, customized practice tests for speed improvement, and used flashcards to anchor concepts before my final attempt between Aug '25 and Sep '25.

Test Day—What Actually Helped
The real exam felt very similar to TTP’s practice sets—both in difficulty and in logic. Quant was challenging, DI pressed me on speed, but nothing felt unfamiliar thanks to the breadth of custom-timed drills and AI-powered question variation I had used. Verbal timing remained tough, but the clarity from TTP’s recap lessons helped me stay focused. I felt very sure during the final exam despite 3 very tricky questions in overlapping sets and probability on the final day since I knew I was following the correct method, and I was able to get all three correct.

TTP’s Flexible Prep isn’t just another prep course—it’s a thoughtful system that supports all types of test takers, especially those looking for confidence after setbacks or timed-out attempts. If you stick with their process, the structure and adaptability will absolutely help you climb—whether you’re chasing a breakout score or just looking to maximize your strengths.

The depth and innovation in their Verbal and DI modules helped clear the clutter of biases about question types and answer options. TTP deserves a lot more credit for making these sections manageable and effective.

Thanks for pointing it out. My bad. I've been preparing informally since the Classic GMAT and I wrote SC in a flow of mentioning CR, RC for verbal. Have edited it

I'm sorry, but did TTP make you study Sentence Correction for GMAT Focus?

Hi JP234,

What an inspiring GMAT journey! Your comeback story beautifully shows how TTP’s Flexible Prep plan empowers students to regain momentum and find clarity after setbacks. The way you highlighted TTP’s adaptive structure, AI-driven practice, and clear step-by-step logic perfectly captures why so many test takers trust TTP to build consistency, speed, and confidence across all sections.

Thank you for sharing, and good luck with things moving forward.
