I booked the Gmat exam from Portugal, where i currently work, and went to Greece for a few days ( my country of citizenship ) to do the exam due to my passport being out of date and just not having the time to get a new one. Gmat's ID rules state that within your country of citizenship ID is acceptable.
On 28 Oct 2025, during check-in for my exam, the proctor insisted my ID wasn’t valid because the system still had me “in Portugal”. I was physically in Greece with Greek ID. They repeatedly told me I couldn’t test and pressured me to leave the session. I refused because the ID rules clearly allow Greek ID in Greece. This argument went on for close to an hour.
After that, they suddenly let me continue but made me rush the room setup, throwing blankets over things under threat I’d be removed. I started the exam already stressed and exhausted.
Then, on the break, I came back about 5 minutes early and explicitly told the proctor I was ready for the re-check. I was told to wait twice and started the re-check only after the timer had expired leading to me starting Data Insights with about 4 minutes less. When i brought this up the proctor threghtened to kick me out of the exam for being disruptive and told me there is nothing he can do, leading me to have even more stress than i already had.
I’ve emailed GMAC, Talview, etc. asking them to treat the session as an irregular administration and/or give me a free retake, and separately asked for the proctor chat transcript. Everyone says they can’t share logs and Talview basically said “you completed the test, we’ll pass on feedback.”
Has anyone had something similar happend and did anyone manage to get GMAC to void the score and offer a free retake ?
