Hi Don't lose heart,
I can tell you a couple of things wrong with your approach straight away :
- "the last week I took off of work and studied 8 hours a day"
You must have been mentally exhausted during the real test ? It is recommended that you take one or two days before the actual test off
- Did you actually try the GmatPrep test (the official one from mba.com website). Its the best indicator of your current score.
- Did you ever work out which section your main weaknesses lie in ? That information is key to focusing preparation for your next attempt at the test.
Once you have assessed your weaknesses, focus your preparation on your weak areas. There is plenty of preparation material on the forums here. Also plenty of people to help you + people who post several questions every day for practice. Get involved.
Good luck.

Hi,
After self studying for two months part time (the last week I took off of work and studied 8 hours a day) I got a miserable 540 on the exam. The funny thing is that I was doing really well on the manhattan CATs (~620-650) but couldn't make an adjustment to the real thing. I forget the breakdown of the score, but I remember getting around the 50th percentile in both sections. Anyways, I am asking all of the GMAT gurus on here what my next step should be? I know I am an intelligent person, but am absolutely horrible at standardized tests. Would taking a
Manhattan GMAT course propel me from a 540 to a 680 or higher? Thanks
